Tempting the Dark
by Michele Hauf
This was my first read of Michele’s and I have to say that the whole premise of the book intrigued me instantly. I love a good paranormal and this book really did it for me. I was hooked from the start and I was left on the edge of my seat through most of it.
Savin and Jett were friends as children but a traumatic experience has left them worlds apart and with baggage that may seem to great for a lesser person. Savin is now a reckoner of demons in the mortal realm. He sends demons who have no reason to be on earth back to where they came from. Jett was left in a world she knew nothing about and had to learn how to survive all on her own. She’s done things to survive that she’s not proud of, but she is who she is now and she’s accepted that. The only question is…will Savin accept her now for the thing she has become or does he still want her as the sweet, innocent child she once was. I loved both characters. Jett was strong and knew exactly what she wanted; Savin was this burly man who had a sweet side when it came to Jett.
The plot itself was creative and kept me entertained. About half way in I realized how things would play out, but I still enjoyed the book. It was a well-thought out plot with engaging characters that you want to know more of. Overall, I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to dive into more of Hauf’s novels.
