At twenty-two years old, Sydney has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter’s cheating on her—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.
Sydney becomes captivated by Ridge, her mysterious neighbor. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to his playing his guitar every day out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

I mean…all I can really say about this book is well, wow! Colleen Hoover is a freakin’ mastermind and Griffin Peterson has the voice of a god. Like seriously. Before I even get into the actual review of the book itself I just want to say that the experience Colleen/Griffin/Atria books has given readers is amazing. With the soundtrack playing in my ears and my eyes devouring every nook and cranny of this book I fell into this beautiful world and I was so engrossed in it that every part of my being was connected with these characters. I love being able to connect with characters…it’s what I enjoy most out of reading but this really took it to a whole new level. I literally felt like I was “there” with them and everything thing they went through. It was the most amazing experience I have ever had while reading a book. *Thank you, thank you, thank you Colleen, Griffin, & Atria books.
[end rant of how amazingly awesome everyone mentioned above is.]
I have been a fan of Colleen Hoover’s for awhile now. Yes, we all know she writes amazing books but she not only puts words to paper…she has this ability to weave words into beautiful pieces of art that creates this amazing (yes…I will use this word a lot so get ready) stories and characters that people can’t help fall in love with. MAYBE SOMEDAY is another amazing (see, told ya) piece of art that you have to pick up and read today..like now. Not in 5 minutes..not tomorrow when you’re bored..I mean, now. You must make time for this book & the soundtrack because it will rip your heart out, stomp on it, put it back together with a smile, and hand it back to you like it was doing you a favor! I’m serious…that’s how a-maz-ing this story was.
The characters are well-developed and you can’t help but to relate to these people on an intimate level. You seriously are going to want to become friends with these people..I mean characters. I mean, they are hilarious and they just seem like people I’d want to sit down and really get to know. Also, I’ll never look at pine-sol the same way again. **saying in sarcastic tone* –> Thanks, Colleen!
Sydney is freakin’ awesome! We first get a glimpse of her when she’s just had some crushing news and even when she’s crushed and broken and wet (yes, I said wet because..I mean, yeah..she really was) she doesn’t come off as a damsel-in-distress. Nope, not Sydney…she’s my type of heroine because she’s hilariously sarcastic, has a tendency to punch people, and is, all-in-all, a girl who every girl wishes to be because she just has “that” type of personality. She’s genuinely a good person even though her fists do tend to fly a lot.
Hey heart. Are you listening? You and I are officially at war. –Sydney
Ridge. Ahhh, Ridge. Beautiful, glorious Ridge. He has indeed become my new book boyfriend. He’s a good guy..a genuinely good guy and you can’t help but to love that about him. He also has a sarcastic mouth and can keep up with Sydney quite well. [I just want to throw out here that Colleen really through me for a loop when Ridge was really introduced..I mean, I never saw “it” coming] Even though Ridge is a good guy he can’t help himself when he inadvertently falls for Sydney and from there everything just gets kind of crazy.
My left brain is telling me this is somehow wrong, my right brain is wanting to hear her sing again, my stomach is nowhere to be found, and my heart is punching itself in the face with one arm and hugging itself with the other.–Ridge.
The side characters in this book were pretty awesome too. They really helped make this book even more incredible. Maggie, the girl you WILL fall in love with even if you try your hardest not to because well, you want to be solely on Sydney’s side *hint*hint*, is perfect. She’s obviously smart, witty, and lives life to the fullest. You seriously can’t help but to like her and end the end, root for her and her quest to find everything she ever wanted in life. That’s how, yep, amazing this girl is…inside and out. Warren & Bridgette are awful but great together *snickers* When you meet them and see the inter-dealings with their….whatever it is…you will come to care for them, as well as Maggie, just as much as you care for Sydney and Ridge. Colleen really outdid herself with this book. Every aspect of it was outstanding.
In this story things happen…lines get crossed…and worlds change forever. The music Sydney & Ridge makes is, yes I’m going to say it again, amazing. But will their music be enough to keep them together professionally and as friends when it’s too much for them on so many other levels?? Music really brings them together in a way that their words simply can’t. Even though they know it’s wrong to have this attraction for each other because of the circumstances surrounding them they still can’t help but to fall for each other. Watching this attraction play out knowing it’s wrong but knowing that it’s right for them was frustratingly beautiful and nerve-wracking for me. Colleen took all of the emotions I could possibly feel and put them into one glorious package and it’s called MAYBE SOMEDAY.
As you can see, I loved this book. I loved the storyline, I loved the characters, I loved the way Colleen made me want to cry my eyes out, rip my heart open, and scream in frustration but also fall madly in love with Sydney’s & Ridge’s relationship, and I loved, loved, loved listening to the music that goes along with this book while in the midst of the particular scene that music belonged to. Again, it was amazing. Just..simply amazing.
I give this book way more than 5 stars because it deserves way more. This will forever be one of my favorite books.
