Holy cow this book blew me away! With every book I think I’ve finally found Amy at her best and then she goes and blows it out of the water with every new release! This woman gets me all up in my emotions, especially with this series. If you’ve read the first installment, Show Me the Way, then you sooo know what I’m talking about. These characters will touch you intimately and you’ll never want to let them go.
“He looked like discord.
Chaos with an easy, arrogant smile.
A perfect, controlled disorder.”
“The girl was calm and a raging fire.
Peace and a hurricane.
Modest and demure with a straight shot of vixen.”
Follow Me Back was this emotional rollercoaster I never wanted to get out of. The story was captivating and raw while the characters were relatable and so, so endearing. Everything about this book was beautiful and utterly hypnotizing; Jackson has such an elegant way of enamoring her readers, it is definitely an experience to behold. This novel moved me and touched me deep with it’s powerful portrayal of holding on tight to what’s important even though the loss could kill you in the end. Amy shows us that the risk is worth it when you care and love someone more than life itself.
”Don’t ever, ever give up on hope. Because it’s always there, no matter how dismal things might seem.”
We first meet Kale in Show Me the Way as one of the carefree, yet protective uncles of Frankie Leigh and best friend to Rex. His life revolves around his work as a doctor and his friends, whom he calls family. At this point in his life he feels that’s all he needs; he refuses to allow himself anything more due to a past that still haunts him. But when he laid eyes on Harley Hope Masterson, he was lost. Throughout the entire book I loved Kale hard. He was carefree and unattached on the outside, but when you look deep enough you see he’s really genuine and kind.
Hope lives a complicated life and she definitely doesn’t need a sexy man wanting nothing but one night to even further complicate things. The chemistry was instant the moment they met, and when life kept randomly shoving them together she finally took a chance and let her heart feel for someone else again. I connected with Hope instantly. Her struggle was portrayed so vividly and I literally hurt when she hurt. I felt everything this book had to offer through this character.
The story itself was amazingly well written and the characters were vividly real. I couldn’t ask for a better story to get lost in. A.L. Jackson outdid herself and Follow Me Back is definitely one of my 2018 favorite reads! Just for reference, even though this is the 2nd book to the Fight for Me series, each book can be read as a standalone.
