Marcus Hardy had hoped to enjoy a year away from the coastal town of Sea Breeze, Alabama. Instead, he’s jerked right back due to a family crisis and ends up sharing an apartment with playboy Cage York, who hosts a revolving door or long-legged hot girls, in and out, at all times. But there’s one particular semi-frequent regular who catches his eye.
Willow “Low” Foster needs a place to live. Running to Cage’s apartment every time her sister kicks her out isn’t exactly a long-term solution. But Cage has a new roommate, and suddenly, sleeping over at her best friend’s apartment isn’t such a bad thing. Especially when she gets to see Marcus’s sexy green eyes look at her like he wants her there.
There’s one problem, though. Cage intends on marrying Low–a fact he has made very clear to Marcus. But no matter how hard he tries, Marcus can’t resist the way Low makes him feel
Things are about to get real complicated and real messy–real fast.
I was intrigued by the sweet, caring Marcus Hardy in BREATHE but I fell in love with him in BECAUSE OF LOW. Abbi Glines captured my heart again in this book and refused to let go. Her writing style is so captivating and her story plots are so memorable. I just can’t get enough of these characters and their lives.
Willow “Low” is absolutely my favorite female character out of the whole Sea Breeze lot. She has a rough life with a crappy family but she doesn’t let that define her. She’s still sweet and giving and I find that pretty amazing given her circumstances. She never gives up on life like you expect her to. Nope, she keeps going and makes the best with what she has. Readers can’t help but to like this character and want the best for her and we all know Marcus is what’s best for her. He fits her perfectly. He’s sweet and caring but he can be a sexy sweet talker when he wants to be.
She looked liked she’d been dipped in chocolate, and damn if I didn’t want a bite. -Marcus
Even with Cage, Low’s best friend, intent on keeping Low to himself nothing seems to be able to stop the connection Marcus and Low have for each other. The way Marcus tries to take care of her and be there for her is swoon-worthy and it breaks my heart that Low isn’t use to that type of treatment. When they are together it’s pretty amazing and you can tell instantly that Abbi Glines created these characters to fit perfectly together.
Yes, I want more. So much more. But I need you to let me go slow. As much as I want you, I need to make sure that when we look back one day and remember how it all happened, I want you to feel cherished. Special. That’s important to me. -Marcus
See what I mean? Swoon-worthy!
With their blooming relationship, Marcus and Low try to keep each of their family life separate from what they have, but as with anything else in life, things don’t always go as planned, and when they find out they are more connected then they ever thought possible will their love be enough or will it all come crashing down around them?
BECAUSE OF LOW is a beautifully written story with well-developed characters. Readers connect instantly with them and can’t help but to want more. With each passing book in this series I fall more and more in love with Sea Breeze and all it has to offer!
