LOSING HOPE is the second book to HOPELESS which captured my heart from the very first chapter. LOSING HOPE gave us a look into Holder’s experiences and thought processes and it really tied up some loose end in HOPELESS. We got to see why he said or did the things he did and how finding Hope (Sky) and watching her learn about who she really was affected him. I didn’t think I could fall more in love with Holder but I did when reading LOSING HOPE. Of course all the emotions that came with HOPELESS came back ten time strong in LOSING HOPE and my heart broke all over again for Hope (Sky). It broke for her as well as Holder because I couldn’t imagine being on his end and watching her relive her horrendous past. Colleen Hoover does an amazing job at captivating readers once again and pulling them in, leaving them breathless, and definitely wanting more.
I acquired LOSING HOPE from netgalley and finished it within hours of reading it. I laughed, cried, and screamed at times. Colleen Hoover took the emotions I already had from HOPELESS and brought them all back to the surface. It was an amazing ride. I couldn’t get enough of Holder. He has this broken bad-boy persona but in reality he loves hard and gives just as good as he gets. He would do anything for the people he loves. *feel free to stop right here and swoon.* He’s funny and sarcastic..wrap that up with his devastatingly good looks and you have the perfect, and I mean perfect, guy. We all know this when reading HOPELESS but Ms. Hoover seems to take his perfection up a notch by letting us in on his thoughts and reasonings. Ah, I just can’t seem to get enough of Dean Holder. Ever.
I wrote a review on LOSING HOPE here if you would like to read it, but I couldn’t really do it justice since I really couldn’t quote anything. Well, today (now that it’s been released) I’m going to quote some of my favorite parts. I’m getting excited just thinking about delving back into this heart wrenchingly perfect book!!!
Here goes nothing….
“I wonder if it’s possible for people to fall in love with a person one characteristic at a time, or if you fall for the entire person at once. Because I think I just fell in love with her wit. And her bluntness. And maybe even her mouth, but I won’t allow myself to stare at it long enough to confirm. Shit. That’s already three characteristics and I’ve only been here an hour.” –Chapter 13
“Oh, my God, Les. I can’t even explain to you how perfect this girl is. And when I say perfect, I mean imperfect, because there’s just so much wrong with her. But everything wrong with her is everything that draws me in and makes her perfect. She’s flat-out rude to me and I love it. She’s stubborn and I love it. She’s a smarts and she’s sarcastic and every witty thing that comes out of her mouth is like music to my ears because it’s exactly what I want.” -Chapter 13.5
[Hope (Sky)] ” I’m really not any good at this whole dating thing, and I don’t even know if this is a date, but I know that whatever it is, it’s a little more than just two friends hanging out, and knowing that makes me think about later tonight when it’s time for you to leave and whether or not you plan to kiss me and I’m the type of person who hates surprises so I can’t stop feeling awkward about it because I do want you to kiss me and this may seem presumptuous of me, but I sort of think you want to kiss me, too, and so I was thinking how much easier it would be if we just went ahead and kissed already so you can go back to cooking dinner and I can stop trying to mentally map out how our night’s about to play out….[Holder] I set the knife down on the cutting board and look her in the eyes. That, I say, was the longest run-on sentence I’ve ever heard.” -Chapter 14
“I’ve loved Hope since we were kids. But tonight? Tonight I fell in love with Sky.” – Chapter 35.5
These are just a few quotes I’ve highlighted on my ereader. I didn’t think putting all of my favorite quotes up here was a good idea because then ya’ll would have nothing left to read 🙂 lol.
Until next time,
Laugh much & read often.
