My Rating: 5 stars!
Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.
Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild, life-of-the-party drummer can’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or can it?

Holy smokes!! I’m in awe of Ms. Scott…like I’m seriously debating whether I should internet stalk her and demand I get more Stage Dive now! That’s how good this book was for me. I didn’t think I’d fall for Mal the way I did David but boy was I wrong. Mal just became my new favorite!
(If you want to see my review of LICK go here).
Mal Ericson is your typical bad boy, rock-god, drummer. He’s got the glorious, swoon-worthy body as well as the attitude to go with it. He’s kind of a big deal and believe me his ego knows it!
[Mal]”Do I need to know her name?” “I’ve heard it helps.” “Maybe for you,” Mal scoffed. “I just call out my own name during sex.”
Yeah..see what I mean. Even though his ego is the size of Texas we eventually get to the heart of Mal and when that happens you can’t help but to love this crazy, god-like creature even more than you already do! Anne is good for him. She keeps pace with him and never lets him get away with anything. She’s relatable and real. She isn’t some damsel-in-distress groupie and that makes her even more appealing characteristically. Both characters have a lot of depth to them so readers can instantly connect with them. Also, Evelyn and David make appearances throughout the entire book along with the other band members. I felt as if I connected with each one and I’m excited to see what Kylie has planned for them.
This storyline really got to me. Anne’s past mixed with the Mal’s tumultuous present had me wanting more. I couldn’t put this book down. I seriously had it read within a few hours. I like how Kylie presented these characters and the plot in a realistic way. This story grabbed my heart strings and refused to let go. It also was laced with heavy bouts of sarcasm and sexual innuendos which made it hilarious at times! Mal lives in his own world and I loved watching how Anne took his multiple personalities one mood at a time.
“He was truly a whole body experience.” –Anne
“Pumpkin, stop rubbing your ass against me. We gotta go! I don’t have time to do you now. Prioritize, woman.” –Mal
Also, the chemistry between these two is explosive! I mean, there were times I had to put my iPad down just to get some air back into my thoroughly neglected lungs. I mean, they were just perfect for each other on every level and it was amazing to see that chemistry play out between them. Kylie did an amazing job at all the steamy goodness. Mal isn’t a romantic, hearts-and-flowers type of guy but when he loves, he loves fiercely and readers can definitely see that within PLAY. Overall, this book was well-developed and the characters were amazing. I will definitely be reading this book over and over again.
