Milo Mitchell’s life used to be charmed, but that was before her father died, she went a little crazy, and her best friends started acting more like strangers. One Saturday morning as she roams the land around her family’s Colorado wind farm, tagging deer for a project that used to be her father’s, Milo makes a big mistake: a dart from her stun-gun takes down a teenage guy.
Dressed in a Brinoi tux and armed with a perfectly starched handkerchief, the guy looks like a young James Bond – or some country’s missing, playboy prince. Trouble is, he could be either. Mr. Mystery has no idea who or where he is. Afraid her dart caused his amnesia, Milo takes him in, names him Nick, and tries to get used to a hot guy sharing her bedroom.
But Milo’s Nick is more than he appears. Soon the pair find his face in a newspaper obituary, and Nick begins to have memories of Milo – who is sure she’s never met him. If ‘Nick’ survived a plunge off a steep cliffside on his way to a family camping trip, why did Milo find him dozens of miles away, wearing a freshly pressed tuxedo? If he’s just a high-school athlete, why does he have moves like Jason Bourne? And why does he feel more for her than his surviving family?
When a train of black SUVs shows up on Mitchell property, Nick and Milo run – toward a shocking conclusion that could destroy both their worlds.
The HERE storyline is very original and that’s one of the things I love, love, love about this book! Ella’s creativity knows no bounds. I was hooked from page one and I couldn’t get enough! Seriously, I’ve never read a plot quite like this one and believe me, IT. IS. AMAZING.
This book is filled with action-packed scenes and mysterious extraterrestrial happenings. From the start readers see that Nick isn’t….normal. When he first appeared I kind of had a “what the crap happened” moment and I think Milo did too! The way he was introduced was pretty hilarious and I could actually “see” it happening.
“When you’re back to normal and you know why you’re wearing a tailored suite, you can probably do anything you want to me. With me, I mean.” My cheeks flamed. “What I’m saying is…Maybe I can compensate you somehow.” My face got so hot, my eyes actually watered.–Milo
The characters were easy to like and relatable, but I wish they had more depth. It’s like we just got a glimpse of who these characters really are and what they are about. This makes me even more intrigued by the upcoming release of TRAPPED because I do want to know more about these characters, especially “Nick.” Eventually we find out what he is but man….I WANT MORE and hopefully we’ll get that in TRAPPED.
The one thing that really stood out to me in this book is the “green energy/organic” feel this book had. I think even without meaning to Ella James kind of brought to light what sustainable energy really is and hopefully that will make readers curious and want to know more on the subject. I thought it was neat how she kind of incorporated eco-friendly brands, etc into this book. I also like how this how storyline is based around energy needs (even from other planets *hint*hint*)
Overall, this book is a really great read if you’re looking for something to help you escape from reality for awhile. The plot was amazing and very interesting! The characters are likable and you really want to see where their chemistry leads them. (Remember, this is a YA book so don’t expect any hot romantic scenes!) The only reason I did not give this book 4 stars was because I had a hard time switching POVs because it happened without warning. This did not take away from the actual story at all and I liked it regardless! I’m even anticipating the TRAPPED release because I want to know what happens next!!! I need more of Nick and Milo!!
***TRAPPED (book 2 in the HERE trilogy will be out March 19***
