It started with a window that was jammed shut. Pretty simple, right? All I wanted was to open the windows while I tidied the house. I’d been after my no-good husband to do it for months, but he never did. And then he shacked up with his secretary, leaving me with a pile of bills, husband-free for the first time in ten years, and with a house that was falling apart.
The ad popped up on the side of my social media feed—a local contracting agency willing to do pretty much anything. Since I don’t really know a screwdriver from a ratchet, I gave them a call.
And let me tell you, the ad was NOT lying. Jesse O’Neill can do it ALL…and looks amazing doing it.
He fixed my window, so I called him back to fix the sagging, splintery front steps. Which led to him fixing my kitchen sink. And then he recarpeted my stairs. And then fixed the squeak in my bed.
He was supposed to fix my house, not my rusty, sputtering libido. And certainly not my broken heart.

(Dad Bod Contracting #1)
by Jasinda Wilder
Jasinda Wilder has proven time and time again that she can write amazing stories. That’s why I can pick up a book of hers without even reading the synopsis and know that I’ll fall in love in some way, form, or fashion. Hammered, the first in the Dad Bod Contracting series, was intriguing from the start; I mean, come on..who wouldn’t love a handy man?!? Once I knew the general overview of the story, I was hooked from page one.
“Evenin’, m’am. Estimates are free, but staring ain’t.”
The characters were amazingly well thought out and relatable. I believe every woman on this planet can relate to Imogen in some way, whether that’s her thinking and opinions on her body, having a crazy best friend, a stupid, no good ex, or how she swoons over Jesse, you can’t help but understand where she’s coming from or where she’s been. I loved Imogen and being inside her head was like being in my own. Except maybe funnier. This story is told in Imogen’s POV; I didn’t think I’d like that one-sided POV, but Jasinda made it work. Jesse is your run-of-the-mill guy who’s all about living life with as less drama and heartache as possible. He’s an all around nice guy with a past that he lets dictate his relationships. He fit well with Imogen, especially since she needed a really good guy. Hot and sexy as heck, but good natured all around.
The overall storyline was good. It was based off two adults who have been around the block and are now looking for their happily-ever-after. They both have pasts and are mature enough to know they are both a work in progress. It wasn’t Jasinda’s usual for me in the sense that I expected the climax (no pun intended) of the story to be a little more drama-fueled. It just wasn’t for me and when the story was over, I was left thinking there should have been more story. Don’t get me wrong…the story ended with a HEA and the chemistry between the two main characters were off the charts and that’s why this book still gets four stars from me. Jasinda also gives us amazing side characters who will be in the next books, I’m assuming so I’m pretty intrigued with that too!
