John Bishop isn’t your typical single dad.
Reserved, impatient, and utterly clueless.
Running the family’s bed and breakfast has many perks. Working long hours, picking up after the guests, and hearing couples going at it all night long aren’t any of them. Hooking up with girls who come to the ranch for horseback riding lessons? Best perk of them all.
That is until a baby shows up at his doorstep with a note claiming it’s his. Growing up on a ranch was anything but easy, but raising a newborn is proving to be the hardest task he’ll ever tackle. Leaving the bachelor life behind, his only priority is to hire a nanny who can teach him a thing or two about parenting — except he doesn’t anticipate her being gorgeous and quirky with an unhealthy football obsession.
Mila Carmichael has many talents — making balloon animals, creating origami art, and remaining in the friend zone. Often seen as one of the guys, she’s struck out more times than a rookie baseball player.
Seeking a new adventure, she flies to Texas to visit family and is offered a position she can’t refuse. Helping out a new dad should come easy to her, considering her past experience, but what she doesn’t anticipate is him being an attractive Southern temptation.
But that’s only the beginning.
While growing close to his family and falling madly in love with the baby girl who’s stealing their hearts, things are bound to get complicated. Everyone knows not to mix business with pleasure. That means no late movie nights, no stolen glances, and definitely no kissing behind closed doors. Too bad the universe has other plans — one that’ll threaten taking away the main thing that binds them together.
(Bishop Brothers #3)
by Kennedy Fox
So ya’ll remember on my last Bishop brother review how I said Evan was my favorite and that no one could beat him???? Yeah….now Evan AND John are my favorites. I’m telling ya’ll…these books just keep getting better and better with each Bishop. I loved John and Mila’s story; it was heartfelt and sweet while also being hot in that signature Kennedy Fox way.
“In a blink, my life changed, and though it was scary at first, I wouldn’t want it to be any other way.”
John is reserved, stoic in that beautiful kind of way us girls fall over, and is such a giving and caring person for the ones that he holds dear, but in typical Bishop fashion he can also be stubborn as a mule and plain idiotic sometimes. He pulled on my heart strings instantly with Maize and I really felt as if I could connect with him easily. Having a new baby is heard, but having one come out of no where that you didn’t have those previous nine-months to prepare for is even harder; Add that on top of doing all this as a single dad and it’s crazy, but John steps us and does it. I swooned so hard every time he even thought about Maize. With her he held is heart on his sleeve with her.
Mila is such a genuine person and her personality was one I could relate to. She adores children and has spent her life helping raise them and then going to school to help teach them. When she finds herself in between job interviews and needing to get away she decides to leave her little Georgia town and go visit her grandmother in Texas. She never expects her life to change in a few short months just by being a beautiful little girl’s nanny, but it does and it’s amazing.
Together these two are fire at it’s finest. They’re not technically supposed to want each other since Mila is John’s nanny, but that just makes it all the more hot in my opinion. They know each one feels something for the other, but they put it off..stepping around the elephant in the room for Maize’s sake. But when Mila lands a teaching job back in Georgia John has to finally admit to himself that his feelings aren’t fleeting. This plot was so well thought out and perfectly executed. It was entertaining and down right swoon worthy.
Overall, I loved John’s story. I loved the family feel that wraps around each of this books in the series; it makes readers feel at home. Intertwined within this book is Jackson’s story and I’m dying to find out what the heck happened at the end!!!
