Release Date: May 23, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken returns with a smoking-hot story about the satisfaction of plotting revenge on your ex—until he turns your world upside down again.
Austin Rogers’s dreams of domestic bliss involved watching Netflix and eating hot dogs with the love of her life. But then he cheated on her. And dumped her—as if the whole thing was her fault. To maintain her pride and restore her sanity, she decides to get revenge. It feels immensely satisfying to plot her ex’s downfall—but so does kissing him.
Thatch Holloway, a plastic surgeon straight out of residency, knows he ruined the best thing that ever happened to him. But not all cheaters are created equal. He got himself into this messed-up situation—true—but he has his reasons for what happened, and he’d do it all again to protect Austin.
He’s not over her. And she’s not over him.
Austin wants closure, but since Thatch refuses to give it to her, she takes matters into her own hands. She needs to write a human-interest piece for her MBA, so she demands the full plastic-surgery experience. Sparks fly as they’re forced to work together. But Thatch isn’t afraid to play dirty in return. And he’s still hiding something—something that has the power to destroy not only Austin but their second chance at finding forever…

We first meet Thatch and Austin in Cheater and I was excited to hear that they were getting their own book. I loved the first book and with this being Rachel Van Dyken, I just knew I’d fall in love with Thatch and Austin’s story just as much as I did Lucas and Avery’s!!
Again, the whole “cheater” concept is very subjective just like it was in Cheater, but this is a story about what happens after. If you read book one, IF YOU HAVEN’T I BEG YOU TO TURN BACK NOW…….then you know that Thatch cheated on Austin by kissing Avery’s older sister. He was caught red handed and then proceeds to dump her when she decided to forgive him! Cheater’s Regret picks up with the aftermath that was their breakup. Austin is still reeling from the fact that Thatch betrayed her; Thatch is still trying to convince himself that what he did was necessary. *don’t worry..you’ll get it once you start reading* Let’s just say..these characters were in a big hot mess.
“My biggest mistake in our relationship wasn’t falling for Thatch; it was thinking that he needed me as much as I needed him.”
I connected with Austin in this book better than when I was introduced to her in Cheater. Here we see the reality of a breakup for most girls/women. It’s hard and Austin portrays this amazingly. I cried with her…I wanted to get revenge right along with her…and damn it! I spit water everywhere when she quite literally tried to kill poor Thatch! She is defnitely the kind of girl I’d like to be besties with. *I mean…hey…we can emotional eat together*
“So, like an idiot, I kissed him again—and sealed my fate against his mouth, knowing that his track record proved he was a cheater and that I didn’t have any part of him—even though he still held every part of me.”
Thatch is whirlwind of emotion. He wants Austen, that was never in question, but his motives??? Yeah, those are quite questionable at times. I love how he took Austin in stride…his personality really fits well with hers. He’s a good guy deep down but shows his need to protect Austin in some really idiotic ways *like cheating on her and then dumping her.* Even though he was the one who broke it off, he still cares about her and eventually gets really fed up and paranoid with her trying to extract her revenge on him.
Overall, the entire story was executed flawlessly. It had the perfect amount of humor to steaminess ratio. RVD completely outdid herself with this series. I’ve loved every minute of it.
