Wow! This month has been crazy for Bout-a-Book! I’ve changed layouts on the blog at least 3 times and added a new way for you to browse my reviews. I’ve also been trying to make the blog more personal by adding my yearly favorites and a tab for my weird ramblings and book talk. It’s still a work in progress but I’m loving what I’ve done so far. If ya’ll have any suggestions please throw them my way. I’m always looking for ways to make Bout-a-Book better for readers.
Below you’ll find a few lists: Books I read this past month, a recap of books I’ve reviewed, and books or random book(ish) things I’ve added to my at-home bookshelves. Just to note…not all reviews will have been posted on the blog. If I read for myself and not for a blog tour or based on a prior commitment then sometimes I review or rate them on Goodreads only because let’s be honest…I don’t have time to write an in-depth review of everything I read no matter how badly I want to.
If you’d like to buy a book click on that particular book (especially in the books I’ve read list. The link will take you directly to Amazon so you can buy the ebook. Under the my reviews list the links provided from each book will take you to my review and/or rating on either my blog or goodreads.
The books I’ve read during the month of May:
***Books on KindleUnlimited as of 5/31/17** Bombshell, Father, The List, Living with Shame, Pretty Stolen Dolls, and Cheater’s Regret.
Books I’ve added to my at-home bookshelf:
I received this book in a Lit-Cube box and thought I’d keep it! It’s a teen novel and is published by Clean Teen Publishing and is part of a series so I’m hoping my step-daughter (10y) will want to read it when we visit next or maybe I could save it for when my daughter (7y) gets a little older. Either way..I’m obsessed with fairytale-like stories and this one seems exceptionally good!
If you’ve read (or watched) Girl on the Train then I assume you have fallen in love with Paula Hawkins. Well, Into the Water is another thriller from her that has racked up the book charts for weeks. It is THE book of the summer and I’m hoping to start on it the minute summer hits and I can lounge by the (kiddie) pool and let the kiddos play and I can soak up some sun.
I bought this book when I found it on a clearance rack at B&N. I’ve read the first in this series, Bound, but stopped there for reasons I can’t seem to remember. Seeing this book on sale an adding it to Bound on my bookshelf has brought back the determination to finish the series! I believe this will make a great series for those hot summer nights *wink*
I also bought this book on clearance at B&N and picked it up immediately. I’ve only ever listened to the first book on Audible but thought what they heck and grabbed it. I mean, you can’t beat $4.97. Plus, this will give me a reason to go back and have a listen to This Man and then finish the series.
Ya’ll! If you’ve read my about this girl section then ya’ll know I’m a military spouse. Right now, we’re up in Fort Drum, NY (about 5 hours north of NYC and only 30 mins or so from the Canada boarder). We’ve been here since 2012 and it’s been a crazy ride. We’re right here at the Adirondacks and this is where The Girl in the Woods is based!! It’s from a local author of the North Country and since I’m actually here where the book is based it kind of gives this mystery an even bigger thriller vibe to me, haha. This will definitely be another book I’m going to dive into as soon as summer gets here.
Don’t be mad, but I’ve only ever read one K.A. Tucker book and that was Four Seconds to Lose..yes, I know it wasn’t even the first in a series lol. But Simon & Schuster sent me an arc e-galley of Until It Fades to review so I thought I’d pick this one up and get more acquainted with the author and how she writes. I loved Four Seconds to Lose so I’m sure I’ll love the rest in that particular series.
This is another one I received from a Lit-Cube box that looks really interesting. From what I’ve read on it, it seems like a mix between the world of Pride & Prejudice but with dragons and war. And if you know me…I’m all for both of those!!!
June is going to be a busy, busy month for me. Not only do I have quite a few books on my TBR, I’ve also committed myself to a summer reading challenge for the month. I’m really excited about it, but I just hope I can keep up with it all. Since the hubby’s deployed I figured I’d have the time.
I hope May was as good for ya’ll as it was for me!!!
