I just needed someone to show me how to fight for me…
When tragedy hits Alexis Cole is shattered. She carries the blame on her shoulders after losing a big piece of herself. When Ryder Hayes sweeps back into her life, she has something to hold on to, but just as quickly as he appeared he was gone. When fate-or meddling parents-throw them back together they can no longer deny the heat that’s burned between them for years.
Ryder has always wanted Lexi, but he’s never fought so hard against something in his life. Saving Lexi from her past was never on his agenda, but he could never bear letting her drown in it. With his UFC championship title on the line, the last thing he needs is to be distracted by Lexi. When she’s thrown back into his life he can no longer fight their attraction.
But once he claims her he knows he’ll never let go.

Before I even get into the review for this book can I just point out how freakin’ hot the cover is! Oh. My. Goodness. It’s full of yummy goodness. *wipes drool from face*
Now, that we have that out of the way….
FIGHT FOR ME has everything a great book should. You see themes such as loss, love, and second chances woven throughout the entire novel. The storyline is one that will gut you and wrench your heart out then put a smile on your face and a dreamy look in your eye. This was my first book by Bethany Bazile and I was impressed by the amount of emotion she pulled out of me. I was a blubbering mess during some parts of this book.
Ms. Bazile pours it on thick within the first chapter. We are immediately thrown into Alexis’ world and we have to endure her life being ripped out from under her in the form of losing the one person who was truly a part of herself. It was agonizing and readers are immediately sympathetic to her. Then we are introduced to the oh, so beautiful Ryder. He has been in and out of Alexis’ life since she was a child. Their situation makes Ryder weary and determined to stay away from the one girl who reminds him of everything he lost with his own family. She’s also the only girl that could bring him to his knees.
“I arrived at David’s house thinking the championship was the biggest thing that ever happened to me, but that night, on the beach, a dark haired angel pulled me into her sea of grief, and I would have died before I let her drown in it.”-Ryder
Both characters are easily likable and on some level readers are able to connect with them. Alexis has had a ton of grief in her life and she’s still working through it all but readers are also able to see the strong, determined girl deep inside of her. Ryder has his own demons to deal with but once he falls for Alexis he doesn’t give up on her. Together they are explosive and believe me when I tell ya’….there were some parts in FIGHT FOR ME that made me put my e-reader down because I was blushing like a school-girl. *sigh*
Overall, I loved the plot. It had depth and the characters were well-developed. The only thing holding me back from giving this book 5 stars is the flow throughout the book, at times, seemed choppy. I got confused on who was saying what and some of the sentences were hard to grasp. Also, I found some of the romantic scenes unbelievable. Not the sex scenes but the times where Ryder confessed his love or said something romantic. Some of the phrases came across as cute but cheesy. I just couldn’t picture this big bad MMA fighter wording some of those sentences the way Ms. Bazile did. Don’t get me wrong though….I was enthralled from the very beginning so the opinions I just expressed did not take away from the overall storyline. I still read this book within hours of staring it. It was a pretty good read and I’ll definitely be looking for more of Bethany Bazile!
