Chasing Vivi by A.M. Hargrove
Release Date: July 13, 2017
Rating: 4.5 stars
Synopsis: Vivi Renard—a blast from the past—wasn’t supposed to affect me like this.
When I knew her ten years ago she was nothing more to me than a highly functioning brain.
Hell, I paid her to do my homework.
Only now … she’s drop dead gorgeous but had the nerve to turn me down for a date … several times.
No one turns me—Prescott Beckham—down for anything.
I’m on a mission and won’t stop until I’m firmly planted between her thighs, hearing her moan my name.
Her plump red lips have me dreaming filthy things and acting like a kid with his first crush.
If I can’t have her, I don’t want anyone else to either.
What’s worse is I want to own every single bit of her.
Except there’s a slight problem.
Vivi can’t stand me.
Even the old let’s be friends again thing failed.
She tossed it back saying we were never friends to begin with.
But I’m the king at playing ruthless games.
So she’d better be ready to drop her thong, because Vivi is going to end up in my bed sooner … or later.
And I’m pretty damn sure it’s going to be sooner.

Let me just say that A.M. Hargrove is one of my favorite authors. She can make me laugh and swoon like no other and Chasing Vivi did not disappoint! It was amazingly written and kept me entertained for the entire duration of me reading it. I definitely wanted more of these characters.
“How do you know I’ll come?
“Everyone has a unique talent. Your brain is yours. You’re brilliant, Vivi. Mine is eating p****. You’ll be thanking me later.”
Prescott is an alpha male with a dirty mouth but he also has a kind heart deep down. He’s been burned before and grew up in a way that left him not being able to trust a lot of people with his past. On the surface you sometimes want to punch him in the face, but the more you see him interact with Vivi the more you see just how big his heart really is. From the moment he stepped foot in that coffee shop, he was a goner and he knew it from the start.
Vivi had a tough childhood that created this strong, confident, and vibrant woman. She knows how to take care of herself and even though her past has left a bad taste in her mouth she’s found a way to move on from it. When her eyes landed on Prescott she wanted nothing to do with him at first. Maybe this is because he went to the same high school they was hell for her growing up or maybe it was the fact that he never really saw her back then the way she saw him.
I often dreamt about how one day he’d announce to the world that he didn’t mind that I was fat and unpopular, that he’d fallen for me anyway-me, in my too tight skirt wrapped around my pudgy thighs, which certainly rubbed together. Why? Why did I torture myself like this? Why did I let myself belive a guy like him could fall for a girl like me?
Either way Vivi was as determined to stay far away from Prescott as he was in getting closer to her now that he’d laid eyes on her again in that coffee shop.
Their chemisty and back-in-forth banter was hilarious and intriguing. I loved it. They fit each other without it being too overbearing. Hargrove showed how you can go from enemies to lovers, but it takes work, communication, and trust. Onve Vivi saw that Prescott wasn’t those kids back in high school and that he had a past of his own, her heart slowly began to open up to him. Then once she realized how much he genuinely wanted to take care of her she was sucked in just like I was.
“You’re like a song. When I first saw you, I heard a few lines, but then each time, more notes were added until now I have a complex melody. And it gets better everyday.”
I think I like this guy standing in front of me. “I want to hear your song.”
“I’m not sure how you can’t. You’re creating it.”
The plot, and pace of the book were impeccable, everything flowed really well and never lagged or felt rushed in any way. The characters were well-written and their personalities were executed flawlessly. I loved every single minute of this book.
